Shikatani Lacroix designed an interactive trade show booth that helped Seneca College establish a WOW factor at various events through digital experience design.

Background

Shikatani Lacroix designed a fair booth for Seneca College by placing emphasis on attracting potential students via unique digital experience. Planning for the college’s signature event with 9,000 visitors, the college aimed to attract positive on-site attention, raise its event profile, create a memorable impression, and improve the quality of smart, meaningful engagements with prospective Seneca students and their parents.

The Challenge

Shikatani Lacroix worked with the college to design a booth that would help it build and own a WOW factor through digital experience design. The design needed to gain the attention of both potential students and their parents, and resonate with them in terms of aesthetics, look, feel and overall vibe.

The design also had to remain faithful to the strategic messaging related to the ideas of quality higher education, choice (options/pathways), and career success.

Our Process

Define

Shikatani Lacroix based the design on an “un-booth” approach and created an open space design driven by the digital experience. The digital elements included a video wall, touchscreens, and iPads that worked together and creatively showcased Seneca’s projects, achievements, and expertise.

Design

The video wall extended the booth’s reach well beyond its proximity within the fair, and attracted students and parents from afar. Easily maneuverable touchscreens allowed for accessible research and provided clear and concise information about Seneca’s programs. The college faculty and staff were armed with customized iPads that let them present additional information and interact with potential students on a more memorable level.

All content elements of this digital academic journey clearly demonstrated the variety of disciplines offered by Seneca, presented programs and “Pathways” (university preparation courses), and also highlighted the fact that Seneca offers degrees, which is uncommon for colleges.

Deliver

The booth improved Seneca’s reputation as well as recruitment opportunities with high-school applicants, their parents, and mature applicants. Potential students who visited the booth were able to review programs in an appealing and interactive way, and the faculty and staff were able to engage students in more meaningful conversations through the digital experience.
