Shikatani Lacroix Design is proud to have been inducted into the Class of 2018 at Retail Design Institute’s 48th International Store Design Competition. In celebration of Nu Xtore, an experience center designed by SLD for health and beauty company Nu Skin, this year’s judging panel recognized SLD for excellence in design and execution.
The Retail Design Institute honored 45 of the best store designs that opened in 2018. With projects ranging from pop-up spaces to large-format specialty stores, this year’s competition highlighted new techniques in planning, design, graphics, fixturing, lighting, and visual merchandising.
“It is an honor to be recognized for the great work our team did with Nu Skin,” says Richard Dirstein, Principal; EVP, Creative & Innovation at SLD. “The Class of 2018 features some of the globe’s best design and architectural firms, so to be among this innovative group is special.”
SLD’s winning project is a state-of-the-art flagship store called Nu Xtore, located in Shenzhen, China. With the goal of creating an immersive, engaging experience for all visitors, the project features the full scope of SLD’s capabilities, including graphics, digital, wayfinding and environmental design. The project previously took home Bronze at the 2019 DSE APEX Awards.
“This project truly was a team effort,” says Dirstein. “We look forward to seeing more Nu Xtore’s opening across China in the near future.”
