Shikatani Lacroix Wins Two Global Package Design Awards

Shikatani Lacroix has been awarded two 2017 Global Leadership Awards for packaging design by PAC, Packaging Consortium, for our work with McCain Marche and Smartfood.

At last night’s gala awards,  part of the Package Design Matters conference in Bonita Springs, FL., Richard Dirstein, Shikatani Lacroix Principal and VP of Design and Innovation, was on hand to accept a Silver Award for McCain Marche in the category Brand Marketing – New Brand, Food and Beverage and a Silver Award for Smartfood in the category Brand Marketing – Brand Revitalization, Food and Beverage.

“We are honored to have our packaging design work recognized by PAC,” said Dirstein. “We would like to thank the judges and express our sincerest gratitude to our clients, McCain and PepsiCo, for the opportunity to work with their brands on these exciting projects.”

Silver winner McCain Foods introduced McCain Marche to fill a new gap in the frozen snack category: the demand for substantial snacks that could be quickly and easily heated but also met a high standard for wholesomeness. Shikatani Lacroix worked with McCain to develop warm, appetizing packaging that stood out next to other brands in the frozen food aisle.

The packaging for PepsiCo’s Ready-to-Eat popcorn snack Smartfood won a silver medal for its modern and approachable twist on the original Smartfood design. Since introducing the new packaging, Smartfood’s market share has grown faster than the RTE popcorn category for the first time in two years.
