VMSD Recognizes Shikatani Lacroix as a Top Retail Design Firm

Shikatani Lacroix placed 24th in VMSD magazine’s ranking of the Top Retail Design Firms of 2016. VMSD’s annual Retail Design Firm Resource Guide is a listing of global design, architecture and construction firms ranked by design fees.

Shikatani Lacroix designed 450,000 sqft. of retail space in 2015, including major retail brand transformations for electronics retailer The Source and Cable & Wireless Communications’ Caribbean telecoms brand FLOW.

For Cable & Wireless Communications’ consumer-facing retail brand FLOW, Shikatani Lacroix’s role was to redefine its retail standard through the use of immersive digital experiences with the launch of new FLOW flagship stores. FLOW was looking to completely revamp its retail experience and improve customer service by decreasing wait times and incorporating new methods of managing bill payments.

Shikatani Lacroix reinvented its retail concept by immersing customers in the FLOW brand with the introduction of state-of-the-art technology, high-end fixtures and top quality finishings. The new flagship stores embody the essence of the islands with the calming blue tones of the brand color, reminiscent of the sea, and the touch of natural wood tones. This redesign improved customer service and increased sales through the seamless integration of digital experiences into the customer journey.

Shikatani Lacroix integrated immersive digital experiences into FLOW’s brand strategy to showcase the features and benefits of the products and services it offers. Customers are exposed to large digital signage screens and a FLOW interactive touch screen queuing system that assesses their needs. FLOW staff is notified of the customer’s name and needs via mobile devices and terminals to accelerate the customer service process.

Our creative, unique digital experiences foster engagement with enticing shelf displays, giving consumers the ability to interact and better understand the services. This was not only demonstrated in the FLOW flagship stores but also at The Source in Toronto.

Shikatani Lacroix was selected to redesign electronics retailer The Source to improve customer engagement, appeal to a broader demographic, and to better reflect its brand identity and positioning. The goal was to demystify the technology by removing any intimidation and allowing customers to play, test and make their own selections in a unique, immersive experience.

Shikatani Lacroix also designed The Source kiosks at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The kiosk design complements the look of adjacent retail tenants and the surrounding environment, while creating a look that entices travelers to stop and shop. With a focus on technology enhancing one’s lifestyle, the store provides a comfortable and inviting environment that features neutral display surfaces, allowing the product to be the star by showcasing how it works for a customer’s life: be it on the go, for business, at home or as wearable technology.

Throughout each department of the store and kiosk, consumers can interact with every product prior to making a purchase, which allows them to be immersed in an engaging experience. Interactive tablets and digital screens sit next to the devices, informing customers of different ways the devices can be used to suit their specific needs and how they work in conjunction with other devices around the store
